RE: Senate District 64 Caucus. Make sure we are heard.
HERE IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY! On MARCH 11, at 1:00 PM at CENTRAL HIGH (please
note location change), Senate District 64 DFLers are gathering to
endorse our STATE REP CANDIDATES (Entenza and Paymar), our STATE
SENATE CANDIDATE (Cohen) and MOST IMPORTANTLY to ELECT DELEGATES to
a May 6th meeting at North High where we will ENDORSE a DFL Candidate
for CONGRESS, to run for the seat being vacated by Bruce Vento.
FOR CONGRESS there are currently 4 announced DFL candidates:
Council member CHRIS COLEMAN, Representative BETTY MCCOLLUM,
South St. Paul Mayor KATHY GAYLORD, and Labor activist MARY ROSENTHAL.
We need to actively support those candidates who support us.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
FIRST: Attend your precinct meeting at Central High on Saturday March 11 at
1:PM. There are a number of different precincts in our Senate District (SD
64). It depends where you live. When you get to Central High at 1:PM there
will be people there to tell you in what classroom your specific precinct is meeting.
SECOND: During the precinct meeting there will be an ELECTION FOR DELEGATES TO
ATTEND A SENATE DISTRICT MEETING THE SAME DAY AT THE SAME PLACE. You should
get yourself elected as a delegate to that meeting.
THIRD: Offer a resolution during your precinct meeting supporting NO CONNECT!
It would be great having the same resolution come out of a number
of different precincts.
FOURTH: At 2:00 on March 11, SAME DAY AS PRECINCT MEETINGS, the folks elected
as delgates will convene in the auditorium. During this meeting 4 things
will happen:
1. We will ENDORSE MATT ENTENZA. He has been a strong voice for us.
2. We will ENDORSE MICHAEL PAYMAR. He is the rep from the Highland
side of the district. 3. We will ENDORSE DICK COHEN, our state Senator
WE NEED TO ASK MICHAEL AND DICK TO STATE THEIR POSITION ON AYD MILL ROAD.
4. We will ELECT DELEGATES TO ATTEND THE MAY 6 CONGRESSIONAL CONVENTION
(WHERE we endorse our CONGRESSIONAL candidate..see note above!!)
AND THE JUNE 1,2,3 STATE CONVENTION. At the afternoon meeting
delegates and alternates will be elected to attend the
May 6 CONGRESSIONAL ENDORSEMENT meeting. I can help anyone
who would like to be a delegate. IT IS IMPORTANT! Look for me
on March 11! Or call me beforehand!
We are ORGANIZED and can play a POWERFUL ROLE in this process.
Lets have NO CONNECT signs and buttons at the March 11 meeting..
and again on May 6!! Let's be visible! I will be at the meeting
and will be glad to help anyone who has any questions!
I am also MORE THAN WILLING to meet with folks who are interested before the
MARCH 11 meeting to make sure all of this is clear. I hope to see many of you
at Central High on March 11. LET'S TAKE CHARGE!!
