http://www.tc.umn.edu/~hause011/NF/ (Ayd Mill info) Hi Neighbor, As you know next year we will be electing a new mayor for St. Paul. It is CRITICAL that we have a mayor that will assure us that NO city dollars will be spent on connecting the Ayd Mill road corridor. >> April 17, 20, 21 This week DFL precinct caucuses! Elect delegates for the City convention on June 2. We need to get as many people as possible to attend these caucuses as NO CONNECT delegates to choose the Mayor. You do not have to be DFL to be involved; you only have to be in general agreement with a DFL party principles. (Mom, apple pie...) Just come and support not connecting Ayd Mill Road corridor. Look for your nieghbors with the NO CONNECT signs. >>The time and date of each Precinct Caucus is listed below. Jerry Blakey, Ward 1, Rondo Education Center, 560 Concordia Ave. Sat. 4-21, 9 AM registration. Chris Coleman, Ward 2, Humboldt senior High, 30 E. Baker St., Sat. 4-21, 9:30 start time. Pat Harris, Ward 3, Highland Park Jr. High, 975 S. Snelling, Sunday 4-22, Noon registration. Jay Benanav, Ward 4, Murray Jr. High, 2200 Buford Ave, Sunday 4-22, 12 noon registration. >> Details: First, you will attend a brief precinct meeting on Saturday or Sunday, depending on your Ward, starting at the designated time (listed above). At this meeting you should raise your hand when asked if you want to be a delegate at your ward convention. Just about everyone who wants to be a delegate can be! This meeting will last about 45 minutes or less. Second, ON THE VERY SAME DAY AT THE VERY SAME PLACE, you will attend your WARD meeting. The main purpose of this meeting is to elect delegates to the City convention on June 2 (it is at the City convention that we actually endorse a candidate for mayor). You do not have to be able to go to the June 2nd meeting to help us out...there will be enough of us who want to be delegates to that meeting! But we cannot get our delegates elected without numbers of supporters at the Ward meeting! Third, look for a NO CONNECT sign. A person holding a no connect sign will direct you where to go when the actual caucusing starts. You will hear someone call for a NO CONNECT caucus...and you should find that group of people and join them. For about the next thirty minutes or so, we will be moving people into other caucuses to try and get our delegates elected. We will tell you where to go. In about 2 hours or less, we will have a number of delegates to influence the mayors election..and keep our message out front! And you can go home knowing that the time you donated was incredibly helpful and important, and very critical to the future of the Ayd Mill Road corridor. Most request these days are for money...we need a donation of three hours of your time this weekend (Saturday or Sunday depending on your Ward) to be a visible and powerful force for our urban core neighborhoods! We hope we can count on your being there! Please tell your friends, other family members and neighbors (must be over 18 years old and eligible to register to vote on Nov. 6th, 2001). If childcare is a consideration, your children are welcome to join you at the caucus. If transportation is an issue, some of the mayoral candidates are setting up rides, or call a fellow Neighborhoods First! member or someone from the No Connect Alliance. >> "CITY-WIDE SUMMIT ON TRAFFIC CALMING AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY" May 17-19, with renowned author and speaker David Engwicht.
