Hi Neighbor, (www.aydmill.org, www.tc.umn.edu/~hause011/) > Saturday, May 6, 4th District DFL Convention at North St Paul High School. We need volunteers for our "NO Connect AMR" table Doors open around 7 am and who knows when it will end. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk about the issue with delegates and the press. John,, home phone (651) 644-8049. > The St. Paul City Council voted on April 12 in support of a two-lane road on Ayd Mill Road connected on the south end and unconnected at the north end. Keep your No Connect signs up! Next City Public Works does research on funding (very important) and construction schedules They report back to the City Council by July. The city cannot fund this 30-50 million project alone. We need to contact State, Federal, County and Metropolitan Council representatives to stop funding. She basically said she supported federal funding for transportation but it needed to be subject to local control and decisionmaking. Gaylord talked about SSP's no connect 18th Ave. issue, and said she had just recently driven AMR for the first time, it was a beautiful area and it would make a beautiful park like SSP's Kaposia Ravine. She noted that we have this problem only because 94 and 35E were never designed properly. Coleman was next, talked about his father and 35E, lamenting that 35E is a freeway. Said he'd been involved in Ayd Mill forever, implying he knew most about it. Then he asked twice "Which neighborhood do you pick." He said there is a solution, it is AMR and it was always intended to be a connection, but it won't be a freeway. He said he fought hard for the narrowest alignment, largest amount of green space, for 35 mph, and for no trucks. Rosenthal made a simple statement that was essentially what she said to me in her e-mail - that she wants a comprehensive solution that provides an alternative to the automobile for the average person and it doesn't include connecting Ayd Mill. Ortega said that we need a vision that our federal representative can fight for, to help make a reality. He also said that we need one entity for transit planning, and a guaranteed revenue stream for transit. Latimer said that we should ask who was mayor and let this go on so long; and that Novak did not have a position but is talking to people about the issues. McCollum, said that she opposes the Stillwater Bridge because we need to look at comprehensive solutions, that connecting Ayd Mill fixes Lexington by shifting the problem to another place, that we need to implement the task force's recommendations, that we need to find a solution instead of spending city money in court pursuing the connect option, and we need to get the freeway users off Ayd Mill. She said to Coleman, "I listen to the radio too, and this is going to go to court if it continues the way it's going, and we are going to spend public money on that instead of doing what should be done." > CONTACT INFO: METROPOLITAN COUNCIL http://www.metrocouncil.org/about/boardmem.htm ted.mondale@metc.state.mn.us -Chair 651-602-1453 fax 651-602-1358 leepao.xiong@metc.state.mn.us -District 14, formerly at Concordia 651-489-6862 fax: 651-488-6317 fred.perez@metc.state.mn.us -District 13 Southern half St.Paul 651-224-1001 fax: 651-292-8538 STATE LEGISLATURE: Senator Richard Cohen Capitol address: 317 Capitol, 75 Constitution Ave St. Paul, MN 55155-1606 Capitol phone: (651) 296-5931 e-mail: sen.richard.cohen@senate.leg.state.mn.us Senator Ellen Anderson Capitol address: G-24 Capitol, 75 Constitution Ave St. Paul, MN 55155-1606 Capitol phone: (651) 296-5537 e-mail: sen.ellen.anderson@senate.leg.state.mn.us Representative Michael Paymar (DFL) 64B 211 State Office Building St. Paul, Minnesota 55155 (651) 296-4199 E-mail: rep.Michael.Paymar@house.leg.state.mn.us Representative Matt Entenza (DFL) 64A 213 State Office Building St. Paul, Minnesota 55155 (651) 296-8799 E-mail: rep.Matt.Entenza@house.leg.state.mn.us Alice Hausman (DFL) 66B 245 State Office Building St. Paul, Minnesota 55155 (651) 296-3824 E-mail: rep.Alice.Hausman@house.leg.state.mn.us Representative Andy Dawkins (DFL) 65A 215 State Office Building St. Paul, Minnesota 55155 (651) 296-5158 E-mail: rep.Andy.Dawkins@house.leg.state.mn.us ST PAUL: Address letters to: Your Council Member City Hall, Room#: (see below) St. Paul, MN 55102 Ward 1: Jerry Blakey 651-266-8610, Room 310C jerry.blakey@ci.stpaul.mn.us Ward 2: Chris Coleman 651-266-8620, Room 310B chris.coleman@ci.stpaul.mn.us Ward 3: Pat Harris 651-266-8630, Room 310C pat.harris@ci.stpaul.mn.us Ward 4: Jay Benanav 651-266-8640, Room 310D jay.benanav@ci.stpaul.mn.us Ward 5: Jim Reiter 651-266-8650, Room 320A jim.reiter@ci.stpaul.mn.us Ward 6: Dan Bostrom, President 651-266-8660, Room 320B dan.bostrom@ci.stpaul.mn.us Ward 7: Kathy Lantry 651-266-8670, Room 320C kathy.lantry@ci.stpaul.mn.us Saint Paul City website: http://www.stpaul.gov/council/ City Council Fax #: 651-266-8574 RAMSEY COUNTY http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/Cntybrd/Homecb.htm County Commissioner Rafael.E.Ortega@co.ramsey.mn.us phone: (651) 266-8350.
