RE:	IMPORTANT MAKING OUR VOICES HEARD IN THE POLITICAL PROCESS!!!

REMINDER! This weekend the DFL is holding precinct meetings. It is important
that we have a presence at these meetings. PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING YOUR
PRECINCT MEETING. Why? Read on!

You will attend the meeting at a location depending on where you live.

IF YOU LIVE on the South side of Portland, (east of Ayd Mill Rd.) to
University and beyond, you will meet with SD65 at 9AM at Monroe Community
School, 810 Palace Ave. This includes many of you in LEX-HAM. If Sandy Pappas
is your Senator, you live in SD 65.

IF YOU LIVE on the north side of Portland to St. Clair (east of Ayd Mill) or
between I-94 and St. Clair (west of Ayd Mill), you will meet with SD64 at 1PM
at Central High. This includes some of Lex-Ham, and all of Merriam Park and
Snelling-Hamline. If Dick Cohen is your Senator, you live in SD64.

If you are not sure, you can call me at 651-644-2587, Dennis Hill (chair of
SD65 and a No Connect supporter) at 292-1214 or check the web at
http://www3.pioneerplanet.com/precinct.

HERE IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY! On MARCH 11, starting at 1:00 PM at CENTRAL HIGH
or 9AM at MONROE COMMUNITY SCHOOL, DFLers are gathering to endorse our STATE
REP CANDIDATE, our STATE SENATE CANDIDATE and MOST IMPORTANTLY to ELECT
DELEGATES to a May 6th meeting at North High where we will ENDORSE a DFL
Candidate for CONGRESS, to run for the seat being vacated by Bruce Vento.

WE CAN HAVE A MAJOR SAY IN WHOM IS THE DFL CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS. As you may
know, there are currently 7 announced DFL candidates: Council member CHRIS
COLEMAN, Representative BETTY MCCOLLUM, South St. Paul Mayor KATHY GAYLORD,
and Labor activist MARY ROSENTHAL, County Commissioner RAFEAL ORTEGA,
Representative MARY JO McBRIDE, and Senator STEVE NOVAK. We need to ask each
of these candidates to state their position on maintaining our strong St. Paul
neighborhoods and we need to actively support those candidates who support us.

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?

FIRST: Attend your precinct meeting on Saturday March 11 at Central High at
1:PM or Monroe Community School at 9AM. There are a number of different
precincts in your Senate District. It depends where you live. When you get to
the meeting there will be people there to tell you in what classroom your
  specific precinct is meeting.

SECOND: During the precinct meeting there will be an ELECTION FOR DELEGATES TO
ATTEND A SENATE DISTRICT MEETING THE SAME DAY AT THE SAME PLACE. You should
get yourself elected as a delegate to that meeting. Just about everyone who
wants to be a delegate can be! During the meeting you can also cast a vote for
who the Minnesota DFL should support for US President.

THIRD: Offer a resolution during your precinct meeting supporting NO CONNECT!
It would be great having the same resolution come out of a number of
  different precincts.

FOURTH: On the SAME DAY AS PRECINCT MEETINGS at the same place, the folks
elected as delegates will convene in the auditorium. During this meeting 5
  things will happen:

   1. We will endorse 2 State Reps.

   2. We will your state Senator

WE NEED TO ASK EACH OF THESE PEOPLE TO PUBLICLY STATE
THEIR POSITION ON AYD MILL ROAD.

   3. We will elect a chair and associate chair of our Senate District
(again a chance to ask for a position statement)

   4. We will ELECT DELEGATES TO ATTEND THE MAY 6 CONGRESSIONAL CONVENTION
where we endorse our CONGRESSIONAL candidate (see note above!!)
AND THE JUNE 1,2,3 STATE CONVENTION.

We need to be sure that we have a strong voice in who represents us in the
HOUSE, SENATE, and CONGRESS! We are ORGANIZED and can play a POWERFUL ROLE in
this process. I will be at each meeting and will be glad to help anyone who
has any questions!

I am also MORE THAN WILLING to meet with folks who are interested before the
MARCH 11 meeting to make sure all of this is clear. I WILL ALSO BE AT BOTH
CENTRAL AND MONROE to help you figure out the process. I hope to see many of
you at Central High or Monroe Community School on March 11.
LET'S TAKE CHARGE!!
